Appraise and apprise

These expressions are often confused.

To appraise is to assess.

  • The government has set up a committee to appraise the situation.

Apprise

To apprise is to inform. This expression is mainly used in the passive.

  • He was apprised of the situation.

Any more

Any more is written as two words. Words like anybody, anything and anyone are written as one word.

  • Anybody can join.
  • I don’t want to see you any more.
