Change Tense As Directed | Class 6 English Grammar Worksheets

Before doing this grammar worksheet, you may want to review this quick overview of different tense forms. Without a thorough understanding of different tense forms, it is not possible to change tense as directed.

Simple present tense

Form: Subject + first form of the verb

  • She works in a hospital.
  • I write stories.

Present continuous tense

Form: Subject + is / am / are + ing form of the verb.

  • She is working now.
  • I am waiting for the bus.
  • It is getting darker.

Present perfect tense

Form: Subject + has / have + past participle form of the verb

  • I have finished the work.
  • They have painted the walls.
  • He has done his homework.

Present perfect continuous tense

Form: Subject + has/have + been + ing form of the verb

  • I have been waiting for hours.
  • He has been working in this office since May.

Simple past tense

Form: Subject + past simple form of the verb (v2)

  • I talked to him.
  • I met him yesterday.

Past continuous tense

Form: Subject + was/were + ing form of the verb

  • I was waiting for them.
  • They were playing.
  • It was raining hard.

Past perfect tense

Form: Subject + had + past participle form of the verb

  • I had seen them.
  • She had met him before.
  • They had finished playing.

Past perfect continuous tense

Form: Subject + had + been + ing form of the verb

  • She had been waiting for the bus.
  • I had been running.

Simple future tense

Form: Subject + will/shall + first form of the verb

  • I will/shall go now.
  • They will arrive in the afternoon.

Future continuous tense

Form: Subject + will/shall + be + ing form

  • They will be waiting for us.
  • She will be writing her exam.

Future perfect tense

Form: Subject + will/shall + been + past participle form of the verb

  • They will have finished the job.
  • She will have left.
