Correct the following sentences. Each sentence given below contains an error. Identify the error and correct the sentence.

2. She is polite with everyone.

3. Why are you angry on me?

4. He has came from Agra.

5. I met a old man on the road.

6. She has lesser friends than I do.

7. She earns lesser money than me.

8. I have so much works to do.

9. There are so much mangoes on the tree.

10. I don’t want to listen to your advices.

11. He adviced me against going.

12. Are you coming with we?

Solution

1. He told me that he was leaving.

2. She is polite to everyone.

3. Why are you angry with me?

4. He has come from Agra. (The past participle of come is come.)

5. I met an old man on the road.

6. She has fewer friends than I do. (Use fewer with plural nouns and less with uncountable nouns.)

7. She earns less money than me. (Less is the comparative form of little.)

8. I have so much work to do. (Work does not have a plural form.)

9. There are so many mangoes on the tree. (Use many with plural nouns and much with uncountable nouns.)

10. I don’t want to listen to your advice. (Advice does not have a plural form in English.)

11. He advised me against going. (Advice is a noun; advise is the verb)

12. Are you coming with us? (We use the object form of the pronoun after a preposition.)
