Eat like a bird

To eat like a bird is to eat very little. To eat like a horse is to eat too much.

  • If you eat like a bird, you won’t gain any weight.
  • She eats like a bird. I don’t know how she manages to stay healthy.
  • He eats like a horse. How does he manage to stay fit?

Eat like a pig

To eat like a pig is to eat greedily or noisily with one’s mouth open.

  • I will never invite him to dinner again. He eats like a pig.

In the blink of an eye

If something happens in the blink of an eye, it happens extremely quickly.

  • I had put my phone on the table but it disappeared in the blink of an eye.

As free as a bird

If somebody is as free as a bird, they are completely free.

  • She was as free as a bird with no ties whatsoever.

An early bird

An early bird is a person who wakes up early or arrives before others.

  • The early bird catches the worm.

The apple of one’s eye

Used to refer to a person you are extremely fond of and proud of.

  • She is the apple of her father’s eye.
