IELTS Speaking Test - Sample Questions 2

The IELTS speaking test takes up to 15 minutes. It has three parts: a personal interview, a short speech and a discussion.

These questions were asked during the IELTS Speaking test in Australia in July 2010.


What is your name?
Are you working or studying?
Why did you choose that job?
What are the things that you used to collect when you were a child?
Why do people like to collect things?
If you get a large amount of money, what will you choose to collect?

Cue Card

Talk about your favorite wild animal. Say:

Why do you like that animal?
What are the features of that animal that you find interesting?
What makes that animal different from other animals?
Where did you see that animal first?


Do you think human activities affect wild life?
Some species of birds and animals have become extinct. What are the reasons for that?
What should governments do for the conservation of these animals?
Why do people like to watch animals on TV?
Why do children like to have toy animals?
