The first person singular pronoun \u2018I\u2019 also takes <strong>do<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Does<\/strong> is used with singular nouns and pronouns.<\/p>\n<p>When the subject is singular, the verb takes the marker <strong>\u2013s<\/strong> in the simple present tense.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>She <strong>lives<\/strong> here.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In order to change this statement into a question or a negative, we have to use the auxiliary verb <strong>does<\/strong>. Note that after do and does, we use the verb without <strong>\u2013s.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lives = does + live<\/li>\n<li>She <strong>does not live<\/strong> here.
