OR I\u2019m getting a toothache.<\/li>\n<li>I\u2019ve got a horrible cold.<\/li>\n<li>I\u2019ve a pain in the stomach.<\/li>\n<li>Have you got a headache?<\/li>\n<li>I\u2019ve an earache.<\/li>\n<li>I think I\u2019ve got the flu.<\/li>\n<li>Have you had the measles?<\/li>\n<li>There\u2019s a lot of flu around at the moment.<\/li>\n<li>I\u2019ve got a sore throat.<\/li>\n<li>I\u2019m never sea-sick.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Be sick<\/strong> can mean \u2018vomit\u2019.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I was sick two times in the night. (= I vomited two times in the night.)<\/li>\n<li>I feel sick. (= I want to vomit.)<\/li>\n<li>I feel sick to my stomach. (= I want to vomit.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The expression <strong>throw up<\/strong> can also mean \u2018vomit\u2019.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I\u2019m not feeling very well.<\/li>\n<li>I\u2019ve got a slight headache. (= a headache that isn\u2019t very bad)<\/li>\n<li>I must be going down with a cold. I\u2019ve got a sore throat.<\/li>\n<li>I\u2019ve got a splitting headache. (= a very bad headache.)<\/li>\n<li>I\u2019m feeling sleepy.<\/li>\n<li>I\u2019ve got a shooting pain in the head.<\/li>\n<li>I\u2019ve got a dull pain in the head.<\/li>\n<li>I&#8217;m not sleeping very well at the moment.<\/li>\n<li>I feel a little faint.<\/li>\n<li>I&#8217;ve got a nagging pain in my shoulder. (nagging = a pain that won&#8217;t go away)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Sympathetic responses<\/h2>\n<p>When people talk about their health problems, you will want to sympathize with them. Here are some sympathetic responses.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I hope it\u2019s nothing serious.<\/li>\n<li>I&#8217;m sorry to hear that.<\/li>\n<li>Maybe you&#8217;re going down with something. There&#8217;s a bug going around.<\/li>\n<li>You don&#8217;t look very well. What happened?<\/li>\n<li>You look a little pale.<\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t worry. All that you need is some rest.<\/li>\n<li>If you aren\u2019t feeling well, why don\u2019t you go home and get some rest?<\/li>\n<li>Maybe you should go home and have a lie-down.<\/li>\n<li>Have a lie-down. It should ease the pain and discomfort.<\/li>\n<li>Get some rest and take plenty of fluids. You\u2019ll be alright.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Talking about mild illnesses<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>I\u2019ve a touch of flu.<\/li>\n<li>I\u2019m running a temperature.<\/li>\n<li>I\u2019ve got a bit of temperature.<\/li>\n<li>I\u2019ve got a nasty cough.<\/li>\n<li>I\u2019ve got a bit of a stomach bug. (A bug is microorganism that causes illnesses.
