There are mainly three types of adverbs.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Adverbs of time<\/li>\n<li>Adverbs of manner<\/li>\n<li>Adverbs of place<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Adverbs of time<\/h3>\n<p>Adverbs of time tell us when the actions mentioned in the sentence take place.<\/p>\n<p>Examples are: <em>today, tomorrow, now, then, last month etc.<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We are leaving <strong>tomorrow.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>I want to go <strong>now.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>We visited them <strong>last month.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Adverbs of manner<\/h3>\n<p>Adverbs of manner show the manner in which the actions are performed. Examples are: <em>bravely, merrily, softly, loudly, silently, happily<\/em> etc.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>She sat there <strong>silently.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>He laughed<strong> merrily.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Why are you shouting<strong> loudly?<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Adverbs of place<\/h3>\n<p>Adverbs of place show where the actions take place.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It is raining <strong>outside.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The children are playing <strong>upstairs.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>We have been living <strong>here<\/strong> for ten years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Formation of adverbs<\/h3>\n<p>Manner adverbs are usually formed from adjectives. Most of them end in <strong>\u2013ly<\/strong>.
