In this case, they go before the nouns modified by them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A <strong>rolling<\/strong> stone gathers no moss. (Here the present participle rolling acts as an adjective modifying the noun stone.)<\/li><li><strong>Barking<\/strong> dogs seldom bite.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Gerunds serve the same purpose as nouns. They are often used as the object of prepositions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>I am thinking <strong>of visiting<\/strong> Kashmir. (Here the gerund visiting is the object of the preposition of.)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Fill in the blanks with an appropriate preposition and a gerund.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1.
