It tests their ability to identify the different types of sentences in English.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>English has four types of sentences:&nbsp;<strong>Declarative,&nbsp;Imperative,&nbsp;Exclamatory,&nbsp;Interrogative<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A declarative sentence simply makes a statement. It can be affirmative or negative. Examples are given below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>My father is 75.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cats kill mice.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>She doesn&#8217;t work here.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Declarative sentences have a full stop at the end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>An interrogative sentence asks a question. It ends with a question mark.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Who is your father?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What are you doing there?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Who do they make cheese?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>An imperative sentence is an order, a command, a request or an appeal. An imperative sentence ends with a full stop. Examples are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Leave me alone.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Close the door.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Don&#8217;t just stand there. Do something.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>An exclamatory sentence expresses a sudden emotion.
