Similarly, the pronoun <strong>he<\/strong> stands for the noun John.<\/p>\n<p>There are several different kinds of pronouns:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Personal pronoun<\/li>\n<li>Reflexive pronoun<\/li>\n<li>Emphatic pronoun<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrative pronoun<\/li>\n<li>Indefinite pronoun<\/li>\n<li>Interrogative pronoun<\/li>\n<li>Distributive pronoun<\/li>\n<li>Reciprocal pronoun<\/li>\n<li>Relative pronoun<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Personal Pronouns<\/h2>\n<p>Personal pronouns are words like <strong>my, me, your, he, his, they<\/strong> etc. They belong to three classes: first person, second person and third person.<\/p>\n<p><strong>First person<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The pronouns I, me, my, mine, we, us, our and ours are said to be in the first person because they stand for the person speaking.<\/p>\n<p>This is my house.<br \/>\nI have a sister.<br \/>\nWe have a car.<br \/>\nThe car is ours.<br \/>\nThis house is mine.<br \/>\nOur house is big.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Second person<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The pronouns you, your and yours are said to be in the second person because they stand for the person or persons spoken to.<\/p>\n<p>You are a good girl.<br \/>\nIs this bag yours?<br \/>\nWhich is your boy?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Third Person<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The pronouns <strong>he, his, him, she, her, hers, they, their, theirs, them, it and its<\/strong> are said to be in the third person.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Grammar notes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The possessive has two forms \u2013 <strong>my, mine; our, ours; your, yours; her, hers; their, theirs<\/strong>. The forms <strong>my, our, your, her and their<\/strong> are used before a noun and the forms <strong>mine, ours, yours, hers, theirs<\/strong> are used after a noun.<\/p>\n<p>This is my house.<br \/>\nThis house is mine.<br \/>\nThat is her car.<br \/>\nThat car is hers.<br \/>\nIt is their fault.<br \/>\nThe fault is theirs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A pronoun is a word used instead of a noun. 1) Alice is my friend.
