{"id":71731,"date":"2019-08-23T11:38:18","date_gmt":"2019-08-23T11:38:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/perfectyourenglish.com\/blog\/?p=71731"},"modified":"2019-08-23T11:38:18","modified_gmt":"2019-08-23T11:38:18","slug":"determiners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/perfectyourenglish.com\/blog\/determiners\/","title":{"rendered":"Determiners"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Determiners are words like <strong><em>a, my, this, that, some, all, both, either, every, enough and several.<\/em><\/strong> They come at the beginning of noun phrases, but they are not adjectives.<\/p>\n<p>There are two main groups of determiners.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Group A determiners<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Group A determiners (also called pre-determiners) help to identify things.<\/p>\n<p>Examples are:<\/p>\n<p>articles: a\/an, the<br \/>\npossessives: my, your, our, his, her, its, their, one\u2019s, whose<br \/>\ndemonstratives: this, that, these, those<\/p>\n<p>We cannot put two Group A determiners together.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Group B determiners<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Most of these are \u2018quantifiers\u2019: they say how much or how many we are talking about.<\/p>\n<p>Examples are:<\/p>\n<p>some, any, no<br \/>\neach, every, either, neither<br \/>\nmuch, many, more, most; a little, less, least; a few, fewer, fewest; enough; several<br \/>\nall, both, half<br \/>\nwhat, whatever, which, whichever<br \/>\none, two, three etc.<\/p>\n<p>We can put two Group B determiners together if the combination makes sense.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Determiners are words like a, my, this, that, some, all, both, either, every, enough and several.
