It is usually uncountable.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>My chief interest is travel.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The plural form travels is sometimes used to talk about a long tour in which several places are visited.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I have met several interesting people on my travels.<\/li>\n<li>Have you read R L Stevenson&#8217;s &#8216;Travels with a Donkey&#8217;?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Journey<\/strong> is countable. In British English it means one piece of travelling.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We wish you a happy journey. (NOT We wish you a happy travel.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We use the word<strong> trip<\/strong> to talk about a return journey. It also refers to the activity which is the reason for the journey.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>He has gone on a business trip. (= He has gone on a journey and he is going to do some business.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Compare:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8216;How was your journey?&#8217; &#8216;Awful. The train broke down.&#8217; (Here we are referring to the process or travelling.)<\/li>\n<li>&#8221;How was your business trip?&#8217; &#8216;Successful.&#8217; (Here we are referring to the purpose of travelling.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Note that we do not normally use the word <strong>trip<\/strong> for expeditions which are very hard.<\/p>\n<p>The word <strong>voyage<\/strong> refers to a long sea journey.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Difference Between Travel, Journey, Trip and Voyage The word travel means &#8216;travelling in general&#8217;.
