Back <\/b>is an adverb particle. With a verb, back <\/b>suggests a return to an earlier situation<\/i> or a movement in the opposite direction<\/i>.<\/p>\n

  • If you are not satisfied with this product, you can bring it back.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Note that back <\/b>usually goes between the verb and its object, unless this object is a pronoun. It is also possible to put back <\/b>after the object.<\/p>\n

      Again<\/h5>\n

      With a verb, again <\/b>suggests repetition.<\/p>\n

        Again <\/b>goes after a verb and its object.<\/p>\n

        With adverb particles and prepositional phrases, both back <\/b>and again <\/b>can be used to suggest a return to an earlier situation.<\/p>\n

        • Go to sleep again.<\/b> (OR Go back to sleep.)<\/li>\n
        • I will be back <\/b> in the office on Monday. (OR I will be in the office again on Monday.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Note that ring back<\/i> and call back<\/i> can be used to mean both return a phone call<\/i> and repeat a phone call<\/i>.<\/p>\n
