(NOT &#8212; every books &#8211;)<b>Every<\/b> refers to all or each one of a group without exception.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Every boy<\/b> in the class passed the test.<\/li>\n<li>He enjoyed <b>every minute <\/b>of his holiday.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Every and every one of<\/h3>\n<p>We use <b>every one of <\/b>before an object pronoun (us, them) or a determiner (the, this, my). The pronoun or noun is plural, but a following verb is singular.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Every one of us <\/b>wants to go.<\/li>\n<li><b>Every one of the children <\/b>was crying.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Not every<\/h3>\n<p>To negate <b>every, <\/b> we normally use <b>not every. <\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Not every <\/b>kind of bird can fly. It is then followed by a plural noun.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Buses run <b>every ten minutes. <\/b> (That is six per hour)<\/li>\n<li>Plant trees <b>every twenty yards. <\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Each and every<\/h3>\n<p><b>Each<\/b> is used to talk about two or more persons or things. It refers to the individual members of a group when their number is definite and limited.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>She had a child holding on to <b>each hand. <\/b> (NOT &#8212; every hand.)<\/li>\n<li><b>Each of the six boys<\/b> was given a prize.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Every <\/b>is used to talk about more than two persons or things.
