The structures would you mind\/do you mind <\/b>can be used in questions to ask people if they would be troubled by something.<\/p>\n

    After would you mind\/do you mind <\/b>we normally use an -ing <\/b>form. It is possible for the -ing form to have its own subject.<\/p>\n

    Compare:<\/p>\n

    • Would you mind opening the window? (= Will you please open the window?)<\/li>\n
    • Would you mind my opening the window?(= Can I open the window?)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Note that after would you mind\/do you mind <\/b>we use a pronoun in the possessive case.<\/p>\n

      An if clause <\/b>is possible after would you mind\/do you mind.<\/p>\n

        In general questions about what people think of something, we do not<\/b> normally use would you mind.<\/b><\/p>\n
