    • I cannot come. <\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      When be <\/b>(is, am, are, was, were) is the main verb, we make negative forms by putting not<\/b> after be<\/b>.<\/p>\n

        • You are not <\/b>late.<\/li>\n
        • I was not <\/b>surprised.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          When have <\/b>is the main verb, we make negative forms by putting do not <\/b>before have<\/b>.<\/p>\n

              When there are no auxiliary verbs, we make negative forms by putting do not <\/b>before the verb. After do not <\/b>we use the infinitive without to.<\/b><\/p>\n

                      Negative questions<\/h3>\n

                      Negative questions can be contracted or uncontracted. Contracted <\/b>negative questions have the word order auxiliary verb + n\u2019t + subject<\/b>. They are less formal.<\/p>\n
