Common coordinating conjunctions are: and, but, or, for, nor, yet, so etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Note that when we connect two clauses using a coordinating conjunction, we get a <a href=\"http:\/\/perfectyourenglish.com\/blog\/simple-sentence-complex-sentence-compound-sentence\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"74353\">compound sentence.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Correct use of coordinating conjunctions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The coordinating conjunction <a href=\"http:\/\/perfectyourenglish.com\/blog\/so-as-a-conjunction\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"73775\"><strong>so<\/strong> <\/a>shows effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>I was tired <strong>so<\/strong> I went to bed.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The coordinating conjunction <strong>for<\/strong> is similar to <strong>because<\/strong>. It shows inference. Note that <strong>for<\/strong> is more formal than <strong>because<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>We cut our trip short <strong>for <\/strong>we had run out of money. (Informal and more natural)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The conjunctions <strong>but<\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/perfectyourenglish.com\/blog\/yet\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"73615\">yet<\/a><\/strong> have similar use.
