(NOT &#8230; ten past six o&#8217;clock.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In American English\u00a0<b>after\u00a0<\/b>is often used instead of\u00a0<b>past<\/b>. It is also possible to use\u00a0<b>of, before\u00a0<\/b>and\u00a0<b>till\u00a0<\/b>instead of\u00a0<b>to.<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ten past six (= 6:10, Great Britain)<\/li>\n<li>Ten after six (= 6:10, US)<\/li>\n<li>Ten to nine (= 8:50, GB)<\/li>\n<li>Ten of nine (= 8:50, US)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>Asking what time it is<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>You can use any of the following expressions.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What time is it?<\/li>\n<li>What is the time?<\/li>\n<li>Have you got the time?
