They show what kind of information is wanted.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Why\u00a0<\/b>are you crying? (asking for a reason)<\/li>\n<li><b>What\u00a0<\/b>do you want? (asking for a non-personal object)<\/li>\n<li><b>Who\u00a0<\/b>is this? (asking for a personal subject)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Who\u00a0<\/b>and<b>\u00a0whom<\/b>\u00a0are pronouns. They act as subject or object in their clauses.\u00a0<b>When, where, why\u00a0<\/b>and\u00a0<b>how<\/b>\u00a0act as adverbs.\u00a0<b>What, which\u00a0<\/b>and\u00a0<b>whose\u00a0<\/b>can be pronouns or determiners.<\/p>\n<p>Question words normally come at the beginning of their clauses. When a question word is the subject, it comes before the verb and\u00a0<b>do<\/b>\u00a0cannot normally be used.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Who\u00a0<\/b>(subject) said that?
