Sam was <strong>also <\/strong>present.<\/li><li>I will <strong>also<\/strong> go. <\/li><li>She has <strong>just<\/strong> gone out.<\/li><li>He cannot <strong>even<\/strong> write his own name.<\/li><li>He doesn&#8217;t remember <strong>even <\/strong>his name.<\/li><li>Not <strong>even <\/strong>his parents supported him when he was in trouble. <\/li><li>She didn&#8217;t <strong>even<\/strong> say Hi. <\/li><li>I<strong> only <\/strong>gave him a slight push. <\/li><li><strong>Only <\/strong>my family stood by me when I was in trouble. <\/li><li>I bought <strong>only<\/strong> some vegetables. <\/li><li>She not <strong>only<\/strong> owns a fleet of cars; she owns some apartments <strong>too.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The meaning of a sentence often depends on the position of the focusing adverbs. Study the examples given below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Compare:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>I bought <strong>only<\/strong> a laptop. (= I didn&#8217;t buy anything else.)<\/li><li>I <strong>only <\/strong>bought a laptop. (= I didn&#8217;t do anything else.)<\/li><li><strong>Only<\/strong> I bought a laptop.
