This tense form is also used to talk about scheduled future events.<\/p>\n<p><b>Form: Subject + is \/ am \/ are + -ing form of the verb<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Examples<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I\u00a0<b>am working<\/b>\u00a0on my computer now.<\/li>\n<li>My mother<b>\u00a0is cooking<\/b>\u00a0dinner.<\/li>\n<li>My husband<b>\u00a0is watching<\/b>\u00a0TV.<\/li>\n<li>My kids\u00a0<b>are playing<\/b>\u00a0with their toys.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Notes<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Use\u00a0<b>is\u00a0<\/b>when the subject is a singular noun (e.g. boy, girl, teacher, student etc) or a singular pronoun (e.g. he, she and it).<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>My sister\u00a0<b>is writing\u00a0<\/b>a novel.<\/li>\n<li>He<b>\u00a0is learning\u00a0<\/b>his lessons.<\/li>\n<li>It\u00a0<b>is raining<\/b>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Use\u00a0<b>are<\/b>\u00a0when the subject is a plural noun (e.g. boys, girls, students, dogs etc) or a plural pronoun (e.g. you, we and they).<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The boys\u00a0<b>are playing<\/b>\u00a0in the garden.<\/li>\n<li>You\u00a0<b>are lying<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>They\u00a0<b>are waiting<\/b>\u00a0for us.<\/li>\n<li>We\u00a0<b>are preparing\u00a0<\/b>for the test.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Use<b>\u00a0am<\/b>\u00a0when the subject is the first person pronoun\u00a0<b>I<\/b>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I\u00a0<b>am learning<\/b>\u00a0my lessons.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Present Continuous Negative Form<\/h2>\n<p>Making the negative form is easy. You just need to put\u00a0<b>not<\/b>\u00a0after\u00a0<b>is, am\u00a0<\/b>or<b>\u00a0are<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Form: Subject + is \/ am \/ are + not + -ing form of the verb<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Examples:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I\u00a0<b>am not watching<\/b>\u00a0TV at the moment. He\u00a0<b>is hiding<\/b>\u00a0in the bathroom.<\/li>\n<li><b>When are you<\/b>\u00a0coming? I<b>\u00a0am coming<\/b>\u00a0tomorrow.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Important Notes!<\/h3>\n<p>The<b>\u00a0present continuous tense<\/b>\u00a0is generally used with action verbs like\u00a0<b>talk, play, work, sing, break\u00a0<\/b>etc. It is not used with stative verbs like\u00a0<b>be (is, am, are, was, were), seem, weigh, taste\u00a0<\/b>etc.<\/p>\n<h2>Present continuous tense worksheet<\/h2>\n<p>Complete the following sentences using the present continuous form of the verb given in the brackets.<\/p>\n<p>1.
