(= They are no longer here.)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The present perfect is also used to talk about recently finished actions or situations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>I <strong>have <\/strong>just <strong>received <\/strong>her letter.<\/li><li>They <strong>have<\/strong> just <strong>arrived.<\/strong><\/li><li>It <strong>has<\/strong> just <strong>stopped<\/strong> raining.<\/li><li>They <strong>have<\/strong> just <strong>declared<\/strong> the results.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><br>The present perfect is commonly used with the following expressions: <em>It is the first \/ second \/ last time, since, for, just, already, still, until now, so far, up to now, recently <\/em>etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>This is the last time you <em>have heard<\/em> from me.<\/li><li>This is the third time you <em>have made<\/em> the same mistake.<\/li><li>I <em>haven&#8217;t heard<\/em> anything from him so far.<\/li><li>They <em>have rescued<\/em> at least 20 people until now.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Note that in American English, the simple past is often used instead of the present perfect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Have<\/strong> you <strong>finished<\/strong> the job yet?
