A noun clause can be the subject or object of the verb. It can also be the object of a preposition or it can be used in apposition to a noun. It can also be the complement of a verb of incomplete predication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A noun clause consists of a subject and a verb. It is usually introduced by the conjunction <strong>that, if or whether<\/strong>. Noun clauses can also be introduced by the question words (what, why, how etc.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Examples are given below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">What she said<\/span> didn\u2019t make much sense to me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here the clause what she said is the subject of the verb didn\u2019t make. Since only a noun or a noun equivalent can be the subject or object of a verb, this clause is a noun clause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She said <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">that she was hungry.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She said what? That she was hungry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here the clause that she was hungry is the object of the verb said.
