Don\u2019t you think it is funny?\u2019 \u2018I couldn\u2019t agree with you more.\u2019<\/li>\n<li>\u2018The government must ban all tobacco products.\u2019 \u2018I couldn\u2019t agree with you more. Tobacco causes cancer. I don\u2019t understand why the government doesn\u2019t ban them.\u2019<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>I&#8217;m sick of it<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you are sick of something, you don\u2019t like it anymore.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I\u2019m sick of her rude behaviour.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Susie is a very mean. I\u2019m getting sick of her starry attitude and temper tantrums.<\/li>\n<li>I\u2019m sick of eating the same stuff for lunch every day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>You made it big<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To make it big is to become highly successful.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I can\u2019t believe that she earns a six figure salary. She\u2019s made it big!<\/li>\n<li>Man, you have made it big. Your mom has every reason to be proud of you.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Back to the grind<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To be back to the grind is to get back to work.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u2018I\u2019ve to finish this assignment by tomorrow.\u2019 \u2018If that\u2019s the case, you had better get back to the grind.\u2019<\/li>\n<li>\u2018OK everybody, lunch break is over. Now get back to the grind.\u2019<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>I blew it = I missed my opportunity<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2018Did you get that job?\u2019 \u2018No mate, I blew it.\u2019<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u2018So did you go on a date with her?\u2019 \u2018No. She seemed interested, but I guess in the end I blew it.\u2019<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Pie in the Sky = an unrealistic dream<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Her dreams of becoming a famous writer ended up just being a pie in the sky.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>A hidden agenda<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When somebody has a hidden agenda, they have a secret motive for doing something.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It would be foolish of us to trust her. I really suspect that she has a hidden agenda.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Half-baked<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If something is half-baked, it hasn&#8217;t been properly thought out or planned.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It was a half-baked plan, so nobody was surprised when it failed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Hang in there \/ hang on in there<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This expression is used to encourage people who are in a difficult situation.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hang in there. Things should get better soon.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Hard to come by<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If something is hard to come by, it is difficult to find.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Artists of his caliber are hard to come by.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Hot under the collar<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you are hot under the collar, you are angry or annoyed about something.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>She was hot under the collar when she heard that they had lost that contract.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Bored to death<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When you are bored to death you are so bored.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I\u2019ve nothing to do. I\u2019m bored to death.<\/li>\n<li>His speech bored me to death.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>You&#8217;ve got to be kidding = you must be joking<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u2018Mom, can I wear this short skirt to the party?\u2019 \u2018You\u2019ve got to be kidding baby. You\u2019re fifteen. You shouldn\u2019t wear clothes of that kind.\u2019<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Sick and Tired<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When you are sick and tired of something, you no longer find it interesting or exciting.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I\u2019m sick and tired of eating the same thing for dinner every day.<\/li>\n<li>I\u2019m sick and tired of my old car. I should buy a new one.<\/li>\n<li>I\u2019m sick and tired of my job. I must find something better.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Call it a day<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To call it a day is to stop working.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It\u2019s already 10 pm. Let\u2019s call it a day.<\/li>\n<li>\u2018We\u2019ve finished everything for the day.\u2019 \u2018Let\u2019s call it a day then.\u2019<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Get on one&#8217;s nerves<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To get on somebody\u2019s nerves is to annoy them.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Your radio is starting to get on my nerves. You had better it turn it down.<\/li>\n<li>Her constant nagging is getting on my nerves.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Couch potato<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A person who sits in front of the TV all day long<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If you don\u2019t want to get a big fat belly, you must stop being a couch potato.<\/li>\n<li>I don\u2019t think he will come with you. He is a couch potato.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Get foot in the door \/ have foot in the door<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To get your foot in the door is to accept even a small job hoping that you would be able to get a promotion before long.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It\u2019s not easy to find a job in these troubled financial times, so I\u2019m considering even a lower position. At least, I\u2019ll have my foot in the door.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Give somebody a hard time<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To give somebody a hard time is to make it difficult for them.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be realistic and stop giving me a bad time. I can\u2019t do anything about it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Make up one&#8217;s mind<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To make up one\u2019s mind is to come to a decision.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I can\u2019t make up my mind.
