Identify The Adjective / Relative Clause | Class 8 Grammar Worksheets

Identify the adjective clauses in the following sentences. Note that adjective clauses are also called relative clauses.

Notes

Adjective clauses are introduced by the relative pronouns who, whom, which, that, whose and where. If you have difficulty finding out where the clause ends, try removing it from the sentence. The rest of the sentence should still make complete sense.

  • The painting which was sold at an auction yesterday was from the 18th century.

Remove the adjective clause ‘which was sold at an auction yesterday’ and you get ‘The painting was from the 18th century’. As you can see, the sentence is still complete.

Main clause: The painting was from the 18th century.

Relative clause: which was sold at an auction yesterday
