Some people feel that the private lives of celebrities should not be openly shared by the media. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Some people insist that media has no right to publicize the private lives of famous people. I agree with this view. Celebrities are also human beings and just like anybody else they have a right to privacy.

Media persons are constantly chasing celebrities for their photos, videos and other scandalous details. Oftentimes, these photos and videos are captured without the knowledge or consent of the celebrity. These photos, especially the disgraceful ones, are then plastered all over the web, television and print media for the whole world to lo and behold. Such photos and videos can sometimes destroy a career or break a home; still no one except the celebrity at the receiving end cares about it. These practices are unethical and should not be entertained at all.

Media persons often justify this privacy invasion by claiming that celebrities themselves are posting their stuff online. There are certainly some attention hungry celebrities who showcase their personal life on the internet. They have a desperate need to be in the limelight all the time. We even have people who became celebrities after deliberately leaking their own sex videos online. Still, just because they parade their life on social media, media has no right to pry into their personal life.

In short, some celebrities fiercely guard their privacy. Others showcase it on social media. In either case, when it comes to sharing celebrity news, media should know where to draw the line. If famous people post their private details, photos and videos online, it is their business and it does not mean that newspapers, television channels or web portals can do the same.
