1. My family live in different parts of Kerala. (When you are talking about individual family members, use a plural verb with family.)

2. His family lives in that house. (When the reference is to the whole family unit, use a singular verb with it.)

3. The government has to do something to improve the employment situation.

4. No one knows him better than me.

5. I know a man who works in Nigeria.

6. Engaging in physical activities is beneficial for health. (Here the subject is the gerund phrase engaging in physical activities; gerund phrases are treated as singular.)

7. Two years is a pretty long period to be out of work.

8. Where has he been all this while?

9. Collecting stamps is his hobby. (Here the subject is the ing form collecting; ing forms are treated as singular.)

10. Neither James nor his sisters have completed their studies.

11. If anybody calls, please ask them to wait.

12. Somebody has to go. (Use a singular verb with somebody, anybody and nobody.)
