Transitive And Intransitive Verbs Worksheet With Answers

A transitive verb is a verb that takes an object. An intransitive verb does not have an object. Note that most verbs can be used both transitively and intransitively.

Say whether the verbs in the following sentences are transitive or intransitive. If they are transitive, identify the object.

1. I rang the bell six times.

3. Somebody is knocking on the door.
