Present continuous tense worksheet for class 3 CBSE

The present continuous tense is used to talk about actions or events that are going on at the moment of speaking.

Study the examples given below.

The bird is flying.

I am writing.

She is reading.

The kettle is boiling.

We are waiting for you.

She is learning her lessons.

Raju is solving the problem.

Priya is eating an ice-cream.

As you can see the verb in the present continuous tense has two parts. The first part is an auxiliary verb (is, am or are). The second part is an –ing form.

When to use is

Use ‘is’ when the subject is a singular noun. Examples: boy, girl, book, tree, country, pen, India, Rani etc.

Use ‘is’ when the subject is a singular pronoun. Examples: he, she, it

When to use are

Use ‘are’ when the subject is a plural noun. Examples: boys, girls, books, trees, countries, pens, etc.

Use ‘are’ when the subject is a plural pronoun. Examples: you, we, they

When to use am

Use ‘am’ when the subject is the first person singular pronoun ‘I’.
