International chess champion Vishwanathan Anand was born on December 11, 1969 in Tamil Nadu. As a child, he enjoyed listening to music, swimming and reading. He is popularly known as Vishy or the Tiger of Madras. Anand is married with a son. He was the world chess champion from 2007 to 2013. At the tender age of 17, he won the world chess title at the FIDE Junior championship held in 1987. Anand was honoured with Padmasri, India’s fourth highest civilian award, when he was only 18. Louis Pasteur was a 19th century biologist and chemist. He was born on December 27, 1822 in France. Through his studies he proved that germs could be killed by heating the liquid containing them. He invented pasteurization, which is the process of boiling milk to kill microorganisms in it. He is known as the father of immunology. He proved that diseases are caused by microorganisms and invented vaccination for rabies and several other diseases. He won several awards for his inventions and contribution to medical research.
