Comparison Of Adverbs

Just like adjectives, adverbs also recognise three degrees of comparison. Adverbs of one or two syllables form their comparative and superlative forms by adding -er and -est to the positive.

  • fast, faster, fastest
  • late, later, latest

Manner adverbs which end in -ly form their comparative and superlative with more and most.

  • Carefully, more carefully, most carefully
  • Intelligently, more intelligently, most intelligently
  • Kindly, more kindly, most kindly
