In order to make questions, we put the auxiliary verb before the subject.

  • She is an architect.
  • Is she an architect.
  • He can swim.
  • Can he swim?

In the simple present tense, we make questions with do or does. Use do with plural subjects. Use does with singular subjects.

  • She writes novels.
  • Does she write novels.
  • They own a big house.
  • Do they own a big house?

In the simple past tense, we make questions with did.

  • She came in the morning.
  • Did she come in the morning?
