Relative Pronouns Worksheet For Class 10 CBSE

Relative pronouns combine clauses. They act as the subject or object of the verb in the relative clause.

Common relative pronouns

Who

Refers to people Replaces words like he, she, they, you, we and proper nouns

  • This is the girl who won the first prize.
  • I know the man who just walked in.

Whom

Refers to people Replaces words like him, her, them, you, us, me and proper nouns

  • This is the girl whom we met in the store.

Which

Refers to things

  • The laptop which I bought yesterday is not very expensive.

That

Refers to both people and things. Can replace whom in an informal style

  • This is the house that my father built.
  • This is the girl that / whom we were talking about.

Whose

Refers to both people and things Can replace pronouns like his, her, their, our, your and mine

  • I talked to the man whose bag had been stolen.
