The subordinate clause is a dependent clause. That means it cannot stand alone. You have to add a subordinate clause to an independent (main ) clause.
Subordinate clauses are usually introduced by subordinating conjunctions, relative pronouns or relative adverbs.
Common subordinating conjunctions: as, since, because, if, whether, unless, until, as if, as though, though, although, even though, even if, before, after, when, while and whereas
