Wealthy nations should assist poorer countries with humanitarian relief during natural disasters. Do you agree or disagree?

According to some people developed countries should offer assistance to undeveloped countries during the times of natural calamities. I fully agree with this view. Poor countries are already struggling to fulfil the basic requirements of their people. They will not be able to cope with a natural disaster unless the rich nations come forward to help them.
Developed countries have surplus resources. Their citizens already enjoy a good standard of living. They do not need anyone’s help in the event of a natural calamity like earthquakes, floods or hurricanes. This is not exactly the case with poor nations. They are already short of resources. Their people are living in pathetic conditions. A catastrophe like an earthquake or a hurricane will push them backward by one or two centuries. If they do not receive timely assistance, they will never recover.
Natural calamities lead to massive destruction of life and property. They destroy roads, bridges, buildings, schools and hospitals. They kill thousands of people and injure countless others. When the healthcare infrastructure fails due to a natural calamity, fatally injured survivors have no opportunity to receive adequate healthcare. It is also common for epidemics to spread in the aftermath of a natural disaster like earthquake or flooding. Unless these nations receive humanitarian assistance from wealthy nations, they will not be able to get out of this mess.
By offering assistance to poor nations affected by natural calamities, wealthy nations can also benefit. First, it creates goodwill. Nations that receive assistance will naturally have a favourable view of nations that offer assistance. This will eventually improve the trade and diplomatic relations between. Also, as humans we have a moral responsibility to offer help to those less privileged than us.
To conclude, without the assistance of wealthy nations, it is not possible for poor countries to recover from the catastrophic effects of a major natural disaster. Also, regardless of our citizenship or nationality, humans everywhere belong to the same family. Hence, the rich have a moral and social obligation to help the poor when they are in trouble.
