Transitive And Intransitive Verbs Worksheet For Class 7

Read the following sentences and underline the transitive verbs.

A transitive verb has an object. Note that the object is usually a noun. A preposition or an adverb that follows a verb is not its object. An intransitive verb does not have an object.

Answers

1. I sent the parcel yesterday. (Here the parcel is the object of the verb sent.)

2. He stopped the car and got out.

3. Open the door.

4. Suddenly the door opened.

5. The wind moved the curtain.

6. The curtain was moving in the wind.

7. She blew out the candle. (Here the candle is the object of the verb blew out.)

8. Someone rang the doorbell. (Here the doorbell is the object of the verb rang.)

9. The children flew kites. (Here kites is the object of the verb flew.)

10. Birds fly in the sky.

11. The students raised their hands. (Here their hands is the object of the verb raised.)

12. The children rose from their seats.

    What about the second sentence? Is stopped In transitive? Why?
