Dear Sir or Madam
I am writing to draw your attention to the poor condition of the parks in our neighbourhood. I hope that if you publish an article about this issue in your esteemed newspaper, the authorities will be spurred into action.
Residents have abandoned the two main parks in Meerut because they have become the haunt of various anti-social elements. Due to poor maintenance these parks have become sort of jungles with overgrown hedges. Adults as well as children are afraid of visiting them even during the day. The walls around the parks are also broken in many places and miscreants can easily climb over them and enter the parks threatening the safety of people visiting them. A few weeks ago, a child playing in the park was bitten by a snake. Since then parents have stopped children from visiting these places. It has also come to our notice that at night, some criminals in our locality assemble in the parks to drink and gamble. The food left over by them attracts dogs and this has become a menace.
I urge you to publish an article about the sad condition of these parks in your newspaper. Since it is read by thousands of people, I am sure the authorities will swing into action.
Sincerely
Gautam
