Back Seat Driver | English Idioms

The expression back seat driver is used to refer to a person who gives advice that is not asked for. Of course, nobody will enjoy the company of a back seat driver.

  • My boss is such a back seat driver. He always tells me what to do.
  • I don’t need a back seat driver. I know what to do.
  • Alan is quite annoying. He always tells me what to do and how to do. He is such a back seat driver.
  • Will you stop being a back seat driver? I don’t need anybody’s advice.
