Change Negative to Affirmative Sentences Worksheet with Answers

It is easy to change a negative sentence to an affirmative sentence. In some cases you only have to remove not.

  • He will not come. (Negative)
  • He will come. (Affirmative)
  • They have not arrived. (Negative)
  • They have arrived. (Affirmative)
  • She is not coming. (Negative)
  • She is coming. (Affirmative)

If the negative sentence is in the simple present or simple past tense, we have to remove the auxiliary verb as well.

  • She does not know the answer. (Negative)
  • She knows the answer. (Affirmative) (Does not know becomes knows in the affirmative sentence.)
  • They did not recognise each other. (Negative)
  • They recognised each other. (Affirmative)

Did not recognise becomes recognised in the affirmative.
