Fill in the blanks with the appropriate form of the adjective or adverb.

An English adjective or adverb has three degrees of comparison. They are – positive, comparative and superlative.

Answers

1. No other bird is as clever as the crow.

2. The grey mongoose was more aggressive than the cobra.

4. The cobra was a skilful fighter. (When there is no idea of comparison, use the positive form of the adjective.)

5. The evening was hotter than the morning. (Use a comparative adjective / adverb before than.)

6. The myna was as contented as the crow.

7. It was the worst fight of the snake with the mongoose.

8. It was one of the most unforgettable vacations the boy had.

9. Grandfather is the eldest member of the family. (Here we are comparing grandfather with all the members of the family he belongs to. To compare one person or thing with the group to which they also belong, use the superlative adjective0.

10. The mongoose darted in as swiftly as the cobra. (Use the positive form of the adjective or adverb in the structure as …as…)
