Complete the given passage using appropriate verb forms.

Once upon a time, there ——1——- (live) a king called Wontudu. He ——-2——- (want) to do everything on his own. Once, he wanted to find out the exact number of leaves on a tree. He was so absorbed  in this job that he insisted on having his breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner under this tree. He even asked his servants to place his bed under the tree. Wontudu showed hardly any interest in the affairs of the state. This went on for about six months. Luckily the season changed and the tree shed all of its leaves. So, the king had to stop counting.

One day while he was resting on the terrace, he saw the full moon shining brightly in the sky. He wanted to touch the moon. So, he ordered his minister to build a tower that would take him to the moon. The poor minister was aghast. He called the masons but they told him that such a tall tower would fall.
