Would Rather Worksheet For Class 10

Would rather means ‘would prefer to’. It is followed by an infinitive without to.

To say that you prefer one thing to another thing, use the structure would rather.

Form: subject + would rather + bare infinitive + (object) + than + verb + (object)

Example:

  • I prefer reading to watching TV.
  • I would rather read than watch TV.

We use a past tense after would rather to say that we would prefer another person to do something.

  • I would rather you went home now. (= I would like you to go home now.)
