Conjunctions are connecting words. There are mainly two types of conjunctions – coordinating conjunctions and subordinating conjunctions.

A coordinating conjunction connects two clauses of equal rank. Examples of coordinating conjunctions are: and, but, or, for, so, yet, nor

A subordinating conjunction connects a subordinate clause to the main clause. Examples of subordinating conjunctions are: as, since, because, when, while, after, before, if, whether, unless, as soon as, though, although, even though, even if etc.
