Simple Present or Simple Past Tense Worksheet For Class 8

The simple present tense is used to talk about our likes, dislikes, routines, habits and preferences. This is also the tense we use to talk about general truths. In the simple present tense the verb takes the marker -s when the subject is a singular noun or pronoun.

  • My sister teaches kids living in slums.
  • She sells fish to earn a living.
  • Do you know her number?
  • He doesn’t want to do anything.

In the simple present tense, we make questions and negatives with do and does.

In some sentences, the main verb is a form of be like is, am or are. These sentences are also in the simple present tense.

  • She is an architect.
  • You are a liar.
  • I am your teacher.

Simple past tense is used to talk about finished events. In the simple past tense, we make questions and negatives with did.
