Adverb Clauses

An adverb clause serves the same purpose as an adverb. It can modify verbs, adjectives or other adverbs. There are different kinds of adverb clauses. Examples are:

  • Adverb clause of manner
  • Adverb clause of place
  • Adverb clause of time
  • Adverb clause of purpose
  • Adverb clause of condition
  • Adverb clause of concession

An adverb clause is an example of a subordinate clause. Adverb clauses are introduced by the subordinating conjunctions when, while, until, if, unless, though, although, even if, even though, because, as, since, before, after, whereas etc.
