          The Fox And The Cat

One day a cat and a fox were having a conversation. The fox, who always thought that he was cleverer than the cat, kept boasting of his abilities. ‘You know what?’ he said, ‘I know at least a hundred tricks to escape from our mutual enemies, the dogs.’

‘That is great,’ said the cat, ‘You are indeed clever.’

‘How many tricks do you know?’ asked the fox. ‘I know only one trick to get away from dogs, said the cat. ‘You should teach me some of yours!’

‘Well, maybe someday, when I have time, I may teach you some of the simpler ones,’ replied the fox airily.

Just then they heard the barking of a pack of dogs in the distance. The barking grew louder and louder – the dogs were coming in their direction! The cat didn’t wait any longer. He ran up to the nearest tree and climbed into its branches and hid himself in the leaves, well out of reach of any dog. ‘This is the trick I told you about, the only one I know,’ he shouted from the tree. ‘Which one of your hundred tricks are you going to use?

And that was exactly what the fox was wondering. ‘Which one of my tricks should I use,’ he thought. And before he could make up his mind, the dogs arrived. They jumped upon the fox and tore him into pieces.

Knowledge that isn’t helpful in the hour of the need isn’t worth it.

Hi Manjusha, my name is Thembeka, I’m an English teacher for grades 6 and 7. I’m so ecstatic to have discovered your blog. It is very good and has helped me with a lot of activities for myself and my students. Albeit, English home language is my specialty, but no one is ever wholistically developed. Hence, I have grown rapidly since I started using your blog. Thank you so much, your work is tremendous. I also wish to do more than just classroom teaching. I want to give more to many students out there.

    Thank you
